For women over 50, the best Fall/Winter shoes are casual, comfy flats, combing style, support, and versatility.
We want shoes that feel easy to wear all day while still looking polished.
Here are some of my recommendations, for women over 45 looking for ways to look stylish and feel comfortable all day.
The Best Fall Footwear Options For Women Over 45
1. Supportive Sneakers (For An Elevated Casual Look)
Brands to consider: Vionic, Ecco, Frankie4, New Balance (lifestyle range), Rothy’s, Allbirds
Comfort Features: Arch support, lightweight soles, breathable materials. Come in half sizes.
Linda recommends: The Court Sneaker, Rothy's SHOP NOW:

Style Tip:
Opt for leather or neutral-colored sneakers (white, beige, navy) so they pair well with jeans, dresses, and casual trousers. It’s understated but oh so flattering.
An added bonus is the platform heel adding an 1” to your height.
The beauty of these shoes is they come in half sizes and up to size 13.
2. Comfy Loafers & Slip-Ons For Women 45+
Brands to consider: Naturalizer, Clarks, Hush Puppies, Talbots, Frankie4
Features: Cushioned insoles, flexible leather, slip-on ease.
Linda recommends The Calf Hair Loafer, Talbots SHOP NOW:

Style Tip:
Animal print, in my opinion, is neutral and goes with almost anything!
It adds punch and personality to any outfit, and is a great conversation starter.
Too much?
You could always tone it down a smidge and go for soft leather or suede in classic shades like camel, navy, or metallics for versatility and be a little more low key.
3. Ballet Flats (with Support)
Brands to consider: Vionic Minna, Tieks, Rothy’s Ballet Flat, Ara, Naturalizers
Features: Look for ones with arch support and a cushioned insole (traditional ballet flats often lack this).
Linda recommends the SOUL idea Ballet Flat, Naturalizer SHOP NOW:

Style Tip:
Ok, so not the ballet flat we’re used to seeing, but if you are looking for an elevated flat that supports your foot and you can walk in all day, then look no further.
Plus brown is the trend colour of the moment and the perfect neutral to wear with anything…yes even your black pants..
4. Ankle Boots (Flat or Low Heel)
Brands to consider: Ecco, Blundstone, Camper, Clarks
Features: Wide toe box, cushioned insoles, easy zip or slip-on styles.
Linda recommends the Sculpted LX Ankle Boot, ECCO SHOP NOW:

Style Tip:
Great transitional boot that works with jeans, dresses, or leggings.
Simple, sophisticated, and timeless.
Oh, and did I mention comfortable? Definitely comfortable.
5. Mary Janes & Hybrid Flats
Brands to consider: Camper Right Nina, FitFlop, Dansko, Vionic
Features: Secure straps, cushioned insoles, wider fit.
Linda recommends the Alemeda Mary Jane, Vionic SHOP NOW:

Style Tip:
These feel feminine but offer more support than standard flats.
Consider a texture or print to make your footwear pop and elevate your outfit…and you know
I’m going to tell you to choose a color whenever possible over black!
LINDA’S FIT & SHOPPING RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR COMFORTABLE, STYLISH SHOES FOR WOMEN OVER 50
Look for arch support + cushioning (avoid ultra-flat, thin soles).
Choose quality leather or knit materials that stretch with the foot especially if you need width.
Stick with neutral or versatile shades that pair with most outfits, browns, camel, beige and taupes are always timeless and work as good if not better than black.
If you have bunions or sensitive feet, try wider-fit brands (e.g., Frankie4, Vionic, Ecco).
